Home Outstanding workmanship Energy Star Building

Energy Star Building

On average, our homes are 25% more energy efficient than typical residential construction. Every home by Classic undergoes a series of performance tests and meets strict energy program standards before being certified. This certification is your assurance that your new home is comfortable, safe, durable and energy efficient.

It also ensures that you'll save money, year after year, on energy costs, and may increase your home's value at the time of resale.

Buyers of Classic Homes can expect all of the following in their new homes:

  • Effective Insulation — Properly installed insulation that meets or exceeds national code requirements helps achieve even temperatures throughout the house while using less energy. The result is lower utility costs and a quieter, more comfortable home.
  • High-Performance Windows — Advanced window coatings help keep heat in during winter and out during summer. They also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furniture.
  • Tight Construction and Tight Ducts — Attention to detail by sealing all holes, cracks, and seams in ducts and construction assemblies helps eliminate drafts, moisture, dust, pests, and pollen. This improves comfort and the quality of indoor air, while lowering maintenance costs.
  • Energy Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment — More efficient and properly sized heating and cooling systems use less energy, which reduces utility bills. These systems also turn on and off less frequently, removing more humidity and providing better comfort.
  • Energy Efficient Appliances - Energy Star Appliances will reduce the amount of electricity and water used when compared with standard appliances. Just as effective, yet highly efficient, these appliances are a significant asset to the home.

The Review and Certification Process
Your home is reviewed by a third-party consultant several times during the construction process:

  1. The first evaluation takes place after site framing--looking for unintentional holes that might lead to air leakage.
  2. After insulation is installed, the consultant will review the home for full insulation coverage and proper installation.
  3. When your home is completed, we certify that construction quality meets program standards. The consultant will measure the home's air tightness and check its ventilation capacity, measure exhaust flows and test the efficiency of your forced-air duct system.
  4. At this final visit, the finished home must pass stringent air-tightness and ventilation tests before it is delivered to you.
